Interface Remembers Don Armstrong
Interface Consulting was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of friend and former senior vice president Donald Armstrong on November 8, 2021.
During his professional career, Don served as director for an ENR Top 100 international construction firm and chairman of the International Construction Committee of the Associated General Contractors of America. He also maintained membership in the American Society of Engineers and The Moles. In his various international construction positions and leadership roles, Don saw the need for claims and disputes consultants in the industry, which helped pave the way for Interface Consulting.
As a cornerstone of Interface’s success from its earliest years, Donald made contributions to the firm that are still invaluable today. Known as “Don the Professor” in the company halls, he taught and mentored many Interface consultants throughout the years, including in retirement, sharing his knowledge of technical writing, expert work, and even investing. He enjoyed reminiscing about his travels and projects around the globe, especially French food and wine, and kept up with the world through his daily ritual of reading the Wall Street Journal before everyone arrived at work.
After retiring from Interface, Don spent much of his time researching and publishing the genealogy of his family, whom he loved deeply. He was married for 57 years to his “beautiful bride” Dorothy, as he would often refer to her, and was proud of his daughter Elizabeth’s cooking skills and travels around the world as well as his son David’s skills in planning trips for the family.
Don will be greatly missed by his loving family, his Interface family, and his colleagues in the construction industry whose lives he greatly impacted. A link to his obituary can be found here.
