East End Chamber of Commerce Infrastructure Task Force Meeting

Interface Consulting will host the East End Chamber of Commerce’s April Infrastructure Task Force meeting at the Greater East End Management District headquarters. Houston-area developers, architects, and engineers will attend the meeting.

This month’s featured speaker is Shannon Teasley, Manager of Brownfields Redevelopment Program for the City of Houston. With the focus on Houston’s East End as the city’s next great place, development is expanding into Brownfield properties. Ms. Teasley will speak about the opportunities for commercial, residential, and transit-oriented development on and near the new Harrisburg light rail line.

The City of Houston’s Brownfields Redevelopment Program seeks to improve Houstonians' quality of life by facilitating the identification, assessment, cleanup, and beneficial redevelopment of Brownfields. The redevelopment can be anything that will benefit the community, such as housing for the elderly, new businesses that create jobs or shopping opportunities, or parks. The program works in coordination with other neighborhood improvement efforts of the City government, other governmental agencies, and the private sector.

Houston-based Interface Consulting International, Inc. is pleased to announce Kimberly E. Hester has joined the firm as communications coordinator.

Ms. Hester’s responsibilities will include managing the corporate communications of the firm, as well as planning and coordinating advertising programs and press releases. Prior to coming aboard Interface Consulting, Ms. Hester was a human resources coordinator for CITGO Petroleum Corporation, supporting an HR consultant team of five and the manager HR corporate operations. The American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on the Construction Industry, in cooperation with the Construction Litigation Committee of the ABA Section on Litigation, met April 12-13 for its 2007 Annual Meeting at the El San Juan Hotel & Casino in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Christopher J. Sullivan has been promoted to vice president of operations. His exemplary performance includes outstanding contributions to the firm's growth and client relations as well as superior work on his project assignments.

Beaujolais Nouveau Client Appreciation Reception

Leslie K. Weitinger has joined the firm as a senior consultant. She brings over a decade of project management experience to the company regarding building design and construction.

Ms. Weitinger will be responsible for assisting clients involved with problem construction projects by focusing in the areas of project management oversight, design/construction claims, and architectural/construction deficiencies. In addition, she will provide mediation, arbitration, and litigation support as a consultant and/or expert.

Prior to her affiliation with the firm, Ms. Weitinger was a project manager for Molina Walker Architects, Inc.; the University of Houston; Fort Bend Independent School District; and a real estate firm. Her building experience includes commercial, governmental, residential, and educational projects. She received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston.

Interface Consulting Presents at the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) International

Interface Consulting's Senior Vice President Philip D. Barnard, PE, will be presenting at AACE International's 49th annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event will take place at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel June 26-29, 2005. The three topical tracks participants are able to attend will include such keynote sessions as Success in Claims Recovery, Retrospective As-Built Schedule Development, and Dispute Resolution Strategy and Decision Analysis.

Mr. Barnard will be speaking during one of the event's opening day sessions. His presentation, Staking Your Claim: Effective Claim Resolution, will address common and unusual aspects of claim presentations, claim development and analysis, and the pertinent steps to creating a successful claims position.

Consultants Participate in London Construction Superconference

Two of Interface Consulting's executive consultants, Frank G. Adams, PE, and Christopher J. Sullivan, participated in the International Superconference in London, United Kingdom. This year's conference featured contractor and construction manager issues, and was held at The London Radisson SAS Portman Hotel May 19-20, 2005.

Recognized as the premier international conference for the construction and development community, the conference focused on international construction issues from a contractor's and construction manager's perspective. It addressed such topics as regional opportunities, new forms of ventures, new construction risk management methods, as well as improved procurement and dispute resolution techniques.

This was the event's fourth year in occurrence thanks to its presenters, ICONdirect.net, the London-based directory website for international construction and development, and Andrews Conferences.

Interface Consulting Hosts Reception at the Construction Law Conference

The Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas sponsored the 18th Annual Construction Law Conference March 2-4, 2005, at the Westin La Cantera in San Antonio, Texas. Interface Consulting hosted the opening night reception in conjunction with the Young Construction Lawyers Committee of San Antonio and exhibited at the conference that attracted numerous attendees and exhibitors from across the state.

The presentations in this year's conference addressed construction law updates on recent case law and other developments impacting the construction industry; a discussion of owner and contractor "improvements" to standard contract provisions; and subcontract guidance for the contractor and subcontractor.

The next annual conference is scheduled for March 2-3, 2006, at the Westin Galleria in Dallas, Texas.
